On a recent visit to San Quentin Prison, the ”Pen–tentiary” as Frank called it, I attended a tribute concert for Frank who’d been incarcerated there in the 1960’s.
In touring the prison grounds I was touched by the tender care given to every tree and bush. It occurred to me that if a man could possess one thing, a bonsai would make a good choice, both decoration and companion; a living tribute to patience, endurance and honor.
